Clove & Spices Smoothie Bowl


Fall is coming, and that means lots of new seasonal fares to delight and inspire your taste buds. When choosing ingredients for a healthy recipe, we like to incorporate locally sourced fruits and veggies that not only taste the best, but are the best for the environment. We love visiting our local farmers market to see what our favorite vendors have in store. After a trip to the local Santa Monica farmers market, we were so inspired by the ripe pomegranates and amazing array of spices. Fall is a wonderful time to reset our digestive tracks and nourish our gut with healing spices like cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. For an added punch of protein and omega-3's we added chia seeds which provides 10 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein, which makes this Fall Smoothie bowl the perfect balanced breakfast or snack.


  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 bananas (room temperature), sliced
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 gingersnaps, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 cup pomegranate
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)




  • put frozen bananas in a blender
  • add cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, molasses, and almond milk
  • blend until smooth
  • transfer to small glasses or bowls
  • top with sliced banana, pomegranate, chia seeds, crushed gingersnaps, and maple syrup (I divided all the toppings evenly between the smoothies)
  • garnish with cinnamon sticks
