Since March is the month of courage, our pose of the day is dedicated to the quite determination and courage a bird uses to spread it’s wings and take flight. The Heron pose, or Krounchasana, is the perfect combination of a resting pose, and a moderately energetic one. There are many variations to this pose as well, one being adding a twist through the chest, stomach, and spine, which allows for a deep opening and release of toxins. The leg can be extended from anywhere from a few inches above the ground for beginners, to touching your forehead for more advanced students. Heron pose is ideal for a long and lean hamstring stretch, as well as stimulating the abdominal organs and opening the heart.
