We can’t help but open our hearts and radiate love in our Valentine’s Day inspired pose of the week. Dhanurasana, or bow pose, is named because it looks like an archers (or Cupid’s) bow, where the body represents the bow, and the arms are the strings. This pose is wonderful to do at the end of a yoga class or the end of a long day. By relieving pressure from the lower back, counterbalancing fatigue, and even helping with menstrual discomfort, the bow pose is perfect for both beginners and experts. Dhanurasana stretches the entire front of the body, as well as ankles, thighs, and chest. For those long lean back muscles, bow pose is ideal for building back strength, as well and stimulating the organs and getting a deep stretch through the abdomen.
